It's Monday, What Are You Reading is a fun weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey where we share what we've read and reviewed over the past week and what we plan to read next.
For the past couple of weeks, I have been trudging through The Diviners by Libba Bray.
This was a book I got for Christmas and, I'll be honest, I did not expect it to be so thick. I've been working on it for what seems like forever and I'm not even half way done. I think part of the problem is that I'm just not connecting very well to it. I don't like all the POV switches and if the main character were real, I would not get along with her.
There's a lot of things in this book that could have been changed and made it better for me but hey, some people absolutely love it. I'm trying to stick it out and try and see what they see. I'll probably give it a couple more days before I pick up something else, honestly.
That something else will be Cinder by Marissa Meyer! It's been sitting on my shelf for forever and my good friend, Brandi (Hi, Brandi! *waves*), recently finished it and was telling me about how awesome it is so it has motivated me to finally pick it up! I'm excited about it.
What are you reading this Monday? Let me know in the comments below!
I have to be honest Cinder was totally not my thing. It was just decent for me. I didn't get the hype...I actually had wanted to read The Diviners, just never bothered. Don't you just hate reading a book when you can't connect with the characters?!
ReplyDeleteOh, really? Gah, hopefully I'll like it when I read it. I'm hoping it gets me out of my slump. Not connecting with the characters is the worst. I'm such a character-driven reader, too. The plot can completely suck but if the characters are awesome, I'll keep reading.
