Guest Post: Jessie Lane

Summary: She'll have to believe the unbelievable to survive...The doctors have told Kay that she will die before she reaches her eighteenth birthday. Her mother’s determination to save her life leads them to a move outside of Asheville, NC to a new set of cancer specialists in the hopes to help her. But it’s not what Kay and her Mom find in the doctor’s offices in Asheville that lead them on the journey to save her before time runs out. It’s what Kay finds in the woods outside of Asheville, and an inhumanly gorgeous guy named Ryan, instead.
Myths and fairy tales come to life before Kay’s eyes, bringing her closer to the ultimate cure if she can stay alive long enough to get there. And if the cancer doesn’t kill her before she finds the cure the secrets her mother has hidden from her may be the beginning of the end.

Misunderstood
A never before seen viewpoint from Ryan in The Burning Star

Those who know me, or know of me, think that my life is carefree. They assume that just because I’ve been born into a rich family that’s in power, and blessed with undeniable good looks, among other things, that life cannot possibly be hard for me. Those individuals would be wrong.
So my family’s rich… and rules the Summer Court. I’m a prince, and heir to the Summer throne. What’s the big deal? It’s not as if my family rules the world. There are three other courts in the fae realm. It’s not like it enables me to move things around until I can always get what I want no matter what the costs. All it means is that I have more responsibilities than those of normal ilk.
So I’m exceedingly handsome. Who cares? Sure it has worked out in my favor with, let’s say, those of a feminine persuasion. Are you telling me that there is no other guy in the history of this world that has been considered attractive to others? Of course, not. And even though I know I’m probably still better looking than those who were considered blessed in the looks department before me, it doesn’t mean I’m conceited. I’m just honest. But it also doesn’t matter. Because no matter how good I look, or how much my family’s wealth or power mean, it doesn’t always get me what I want.
In fact, all of it often cause me more headaches than the perks of my situation could ever generate. You see, my father thinks I’m a perpetual problem. My mother is tossing young women at me in the hopes of an eligible match for the future. We’re having unexplained problems in the realm. Some of which could shatter the safety that we depend on to keep us separate from the human world.
And to top it all off, there’s this girl. It wasn’t lust at first sight. No one would believe me if I told them, but it was something deeper. Something that could never be explained in words, even if Shakespeare tried himself. Her name is Kay, and she is unlike anything or anyone I’ve ever seen. She’s not beautiful, she’s radiant. Quirky. Shy. Sweet even when you don’t rile her up. But standing in my way is a problem. That problem’s name is Nick.
So to recap, I have problems at home with my parents. I have problems that threaten the safety of our people in the Summer Court. I have problems not finding a way to dispose of my flea ridden problem named Nick because that would upset Kay and cause her to not talk to me anymore. And to top it all off, I have suspicions about my beautiful Kay. Something tells me that she’s not what she thinks she is. This girl thinks she’s normal. No way in this entire world could Kay ever be normal. She’s something more. I even think that she could be…
Well, you’ll just have to read The Burning Star to see if I’m right.

About the Author:  Jessie Lane is the writing team of Crystal Leo and Melissa Pahl. The two sister-in-laws share a great love of breathtaking romance, cliff hanging suspense, and out-of-this-world characters that demand your attention or threaten to slap you around until you do pay attention to them. Because really, it is ALL about the characters. (They’re kind of megalomaniacs)
When not losing themselves in a story, they remember they have real lives. Crystal lives in Kentucky with her husband and two little girls who plot daily the many ways they can drive their poor mother crazy. At the end of the day, Crystal calls Melissa and threatens to ship her two nieces to their favorite Aunt with lots of air holes punched through their box. Melissa answers Crystal’s crazed calls in Washington state where she lives with her husband and big furry baby of a Rottweiler named Yuffie, and reminds her that children are not shippable.
This is their first novel, but they are all geared up and excited to be releasing other projects soon!
