This is my favorite time of the year; the end of summer, beginning of autumn. Cooler weather, colorful leaves, crisp air, apple cider, Halloween, and, of course, the start of a new school year.
The start of my senior year of college is fast approaching and I'm half terrified, half excited. I can't believe that I'm that much closer to getting my Bachelor's degree -- this is something I've been working my whole life for and it's intimidating knowing that it's nearing the end. Doubts, questions, paralyzing fear, happiness, and excitement are all swirling around me in a slightly nauseating storm. Adulthood is looming and I want to make sure my last year as an undergraduate is as exciting, fun, and successful as I can make it!
I've made a list of the goals I want to accomplish this fall quarter so I'm sharing it here with you!
1. Maintain a 4.0 GPA
I really want to keep on top of my work and studying this quarter; my goal is to keep my GPA at a 4.0 and make sure I'm staying focused! This can be a little difficult, especially since social life and school activities can get in the way of that a bit. But I'm determined!
2. Go to a sports game
This might seem like a slightly weird goal but in the three years I've been in college, I have yet to attend a sports game for my school! And I really want to. To be fair, my school isn't very big on sports; the focus is generally more on academics and the arts. But I'd love to attend a rugby or soccer game!
3. Post on this blog at least five times a week
Whenever I start a new school year, I tend to get pretty caught up in the work and the excitement of being back with friends. As a result, posting on this blog lags A LOT. I hate it when that happens because this blog is such an important part of my life and I enjoy it so much. So, this quarter I want to make sure I stay on top of posting!
4. Be more social
While I spend quite a lot of time with my established friend group, I generally don't break out of my comfort zone and make new friends. I'm fairly reserved in person and pretty shy so this is sometimes a challenge for me. This quarter, I want to make a new friend in each one of my classes!
5. Continue working on my novel
The end of summer brought A LOT of hard times for me, unfortunately. There were a few family emergencies, some personal issues, and a lot of emotional turmoil. Because of this, my novel was kind of pushed to the wayside and I haven't had the chance (or the motivation) to work on it in a few weeks. But I want to get make into my story and find the motivation and excitement I had for it before all this happened!
6. Make more of my own meals
Living in an apartment, it's way too easy to get take out or just heat up frozen meals. I really want to get into the habit of making good meals that hopefully don't include the microwave.
These are goals I'm really excited for and that I think will be challenging but attainable. I'm looking forward to my last year and I'm really looking forward to fall! What are some of your goals for this season and school quarter/semester?
That's awesome it's your final year! I hope you can accomplish all of these goals (and fall is my favorite time of the year too!) I really need to make more of my own meals as well. It's tough to find things that are easy to make, healthy, AND taste good. LOL We can do it though!

Thanks, Lauren! Last year of college is exciting but also SO STRESSFUL! I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do next year once I've graduated! And I totally agree! Making meals can be so difficult! Hope we both succeed in this!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Good luck with all of your goals! I'm sure you'll make amazing progress on all of them. <3
ReplyDeleteThanks Zoe! I really hope so :)

Some of your goals sound like ones I have. When I was in college I think I only went to one or two of our sports games, maybe a football or basketball. But it wasn't the biggest deal at my school I guess. I need to work more on my novel, I think this year for NaNoWriMo though, I'm going to go back to the one novel I've finished and edit it so that I can get it ready to try to send it off to publishers and see what happens. I also am hoping to start cooking at home more and eat out less. Hoping that will help me lose some weight. Have a great week, and good luck with your goals this quarter!
ReplyDeleteYay! Hopefully we both make progress on our goals! Sports aren't that big of a deal at my school either but I actually just went to a volleyball game the other day so I count that as progress toward that goal! And wow, that sounds exciting! Hopefully you make a lot of progress on you novel so you can send it to publishers soon! I'll be crossing my fingers for you!
DeleteThanks for stopping by, Lisa!
Congrats on entering your final year! This was me a year ago... how time flies. I pretty much set everything aside in order to meet my senior year goals. It worked out!
ReplyDeleteAre you doing grad school after graduating? Or job? Be sure to put something for post-college on your list! I started applying to jobs as early as November... and I know a lot of my friends were applying to grad school programs from December at least. Get on those things as early as possible!
Good luck! Have a lovely week, Ashtyn. =)

Thanks, Alyssa! Time really does fly . . .
DeleteI'm not 100% sure what I'm doing next year but I've been weighing my options and plan to meet with one of my professors and my advisor as soon as school starts to make a more solid plan! It's so stressful and exciting!
Thanks for stopping by, Alyssa!
Ahh congrats on entering your last year of your degree! That's so exciting but I can imagine it must be quite nerve-wracking, too. I'm in my last year of high school now which is kind of terrifying. My blog and reading is definitely taking a backseat this year as I need to focus on getting really good grades this year!
ReplyDeleteI also had a really hard summer due to a personal family crisis and it's still hard for me so I can kind of understand and it's totally okay that you haven't been able to put all your energy into it! I hope things are looking up now! <3
Good luck with all your goals! x
Thanks!! It's so exciting and also kind of terrifying! The last year of high school is just as scary, but exciting! I hope you enjoy your last year and are looking forward to what comes next!
DeleteAnd I hope your family and personal crisis has been resolved! It's so hard when things like that happen!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
