Just friends.
We’re just friends.
No, really. She’s just my best friend...
Arizona Turner has been my best friend since fourth grade, even when we “hated” each other. We’ve been there for one another through first kisses, first “times,” and we’ve been each other’s constant when good relationships turned bad. (We even went to colleges that were minutes away from each other…)
Throughout the years, and despite what anyone says, we’ve never crossed the line.
Never thought about it.
Never wanted to.
Until one night changed everything.
At least, it should’ve ...
Just friends.
We’re just friends.
I’m only saying this until I figure out if she’s still “just” my best friend…
Find Sincerely, Carter online
Besides the fact that the cover model reminds me of Adam Lambert, this book caught my eye with the description. I'm a sucker for friends-turned-more *wink* books and this one sounded right up my alley. I really enjoyed the beginning and the tension that was slowly building between Arizona and Carter and basically spent the first 75 or so pages squealing and flailing about. However, I found that once Arizona and Carter actually got together, I had a harder time staying interested in the story.
My absolute favorite thing about this story was the build up and the suspense leading up to Arizona and Carter finally realizing that they could work as more than friends. The slow growing tension between them and the uncertainty and curiosity that led to them making a romantic connection just didn't last as long as I would have liked. They both just suddenly (and conveniently at the same time) realized that the other was insanely attractive and then boom, romance. But still, even with the rather abrupt relationship feel, I couldn't be more behind these characters. Separately, they're awesome and they're even better together.
Despite the suddenness of their romantic endeavors, I will admit that it was super cute and nice. I couldn't help myself from awwing whenever they were together. The fact that they were friends before they were anything else really shown through in their relationship. It made it feel more believable and more meaningful, honestly. They were so comfortable with each other and yet the feelings they were experiencing were so fresh and new. It led to a really interesting mix and I liked it a lot!
The only other thing that got on my nerves a bit with this book was the choppy setting changes. It's a small pet peeve of mine but it threw me out of the story whenever it happened. Like, Carter and Arizona would be in Carter's car and then suddenly somewhere else completely. This only happened once or twice so it wasn't that bad.
Overall, this was a really cute and fast read. The romance happened quickly but it was nice to see the way it was played out throughout the rest of the story. I'm definitely interested in seeing what else this author has to offer so I'll be looking into more of her works soon!
“You belong to me, Ari, and you always will…
You’re more than ‘just’ my best friend, and I never want to be ‘just friends’ again.”

DeleteI purchased this two weeks ago after browsing amazon and stumbling across the handsome guy on the cover lol. My first initial thought was " Ooooooo, he's really cute " then next thing you know I'm one-clicking it to my kindle! I'm also a sucker for friends-turned-lovers scenario, and I'm really excited to know that it plays really well into their relationship. I can't wait to pick this up!
