Okay, so who here likes buying physical books to put on their bookshelf? *raises hand* I love having the physical copies of books, especially of the ones I really enjoyed! It's just nice being able to see it on my shelf. But there is one thing about buying physical books that irks me to no end: cover changes.
Yeah, I know. It really, really upsets me when you buy one book from a series to have on your book shelf and you plan to buy the others in the series as well but then they go and change all of the covers! You don't have a matching set! It feels strange for me to have one book that is styled one way and then have the next few books in the series styled another way. It doesn't look as nice on your bookshelf.
And I get that they don't do this for the sole purpose of pissing people off. It's actually a marketing tool to up the appeal to the intended audience or to have the cover fit better with the story. I just wish it wouldn't happen in the middle of the series. If it needed a certain look or style, why didn't you change it before the series was released? Or maybe wait until after the series is completely over like they're doing with the Harry Potter series.
Whatever they do, just stop changing the cover art style half way through a series! Please and thank you!
What do you guys think about this? Do you have this problem at all? What do you do if this happens to you?

P.S. To people who don't like Supernatural, I apologize. For those who do, you're welcome.
Ugh, yes! I love it when I have an entire series of books and they all have the same cover art; it's like this little piece of calm and order in an otherwise riotous bookshelf. Like the Dresden Files--I haven't read/got all the books yet, but it seems like the later ones have changed the cover art, and it'll completely mess up the aesthetic of my shelves.
