Review: The Iron Queen

Title:  The Iron Queen
Series:  The Iron Fey
Author:  Julie Kagawa
Publisher:  Harlequin Teen
Pages:  358
Format:  Paperback

The third installment to the "New York Times" Bestseller.

My name is Meghan Chase.

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.
My Review:  Like the books before it, The Iron Queen was so good.  I'm continuously amazed by the stories Julie Kagawa shares with us.  The writing style is consistent and always easy to follow and every time I start one of her books, I am immediately hooked.

The plot in this installment of this series had me at the edge of my seat, flipping through the pages and trying to find out what was going to happen next.  I couldn't put this book down!  All of the different twists and turns had my heart racing.  I loved learning more about what was going on with the Iron Kingdom and the other two courts.  It was so interesting to see the dynamics of the Summer Court and the Winter Court working together.  It gave me a lot of insight into their thought processes.

It was also fun to see Meghan interacting in the courts as a really important player.  She was so different now than she was when we first began this journey with her.  She's more mature and willing to do what has to be done.  She also is a lot more brave now than before.  It was awesome to see how fierce she's grown to be!  I also loved Ash in this book.  His loyalty and dedication were so admirable.  His protective tendencies never got annoying and were never too much.  He loved Meghan and it showed in his actions.  Their relationship has grown into something lovely.

And, of course, there were other characters like Puck and Grim that I absolutely adored throughout the book.  Even though I'm a big supporter of Ash and Meghan's relationship, I still loved seeing the friendship between Meghan and Puck. They have a really nice thing going for them and I'm glad that despite Meghan's choice to be with Ash, they can still continue their friendship.  And Grim . . . that cat, I swear.  He's so funny and amazing and I just want to pick him up and hug him.  But if I did that, I would definitely get some claws to the face.

The Iron Queen is definitely a book I will be reading over and over again.  It has such a great story and a magical, haunting world.  The characters are all unique and interesting and very loveable.  If you have yet to read this series, I seriously recommend you check it out!
