Waiting on Wednesday #125

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

Title: Nothing Left To Burn
Series: None
Author: Heather Ezell
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publisher: Razorbill
Publication Date: March 13, 2018

The autumn morning after sixteen-year-old Audrey Harper loses her virginity, she wakes to a loud, persistent knocking at her front door. Waiting for her are two firemen, there to let her know that the moment she's been dreading has arrived: the enormous wildfire sweeping through Orange County, California, is now dangerously close to her idyllic gated community of Coto de Caza, and it's time to evacuate.
Over the course of the next twenty-four hours, as Audrey wrestles with the possibility of losing her family home, she also recalls her early, easy summer days with Brooks, the charming, passionate, but troubled volunteer firefighter who enchants Audrey--and who is just as enthralled by her. But as secrets from Brooks's dark past come to light, Audrey can't help but wonder if there's danger in the pull she feels--both toward this boy, and toward the fire burning in the distance.

Why I'm waiting on Nothing Left to Burn this Wednesday:  While I haven't heard much about this novel, I'm incredibly excited to read it!  Having grown up and lived in California for most of my life, I'm not a stranger to the wildfires that happen frequently there.  I'm excited to read about the fires in this one and to see what role they'll play in the novel!

What books are you waiting for this Wednesday?  How do you feel about reading about natural disasters in novels?  I'm really looking forward to see the role they play in this novel and how the characters deal with that threat!  Let me know what you're waiting for down below!

  1. Definitely curious about this, too! It sounds really intriguing. I haven't read too many books that featured disasters in them, so I think this one will be very new to me. Thanks for sharing! <3
