My Review:  *Warning: Contains mild spoilers* I had high hopes for this one.  I'd heard nothing but good things about it before buying it so I was excited to start and looking forward to a sweet, romantic read.  Unfortunately, April Showers fell flat.  I had a hard time finishing it because of how cheesy it was.  I feel as though the author took every single cliche from every New Adult book out there and rolled it into one, even if it didn't work.  I was drowning in cliches while reading.

I really didn't like the characters in this book.  April was childish and annoying, constantly contradicting herself.  She and Isaac definitely had insta love, something that did not at all work for this book.  As the reader, I knew nothing about him.  And April didn't either but he suddenly was her whole world.  He was sweet from what we did find out and funny but nothing that would make me fall in love with him after having one conversation.  And then when, of course, their "relationship" fell apart, April finds herself with Lukas, a boy that is just as quickly smitten with her as Isaac was.  I actually liked him more than Isaac because we learned more about him and saw him more.  I was frustrated at the end when, inevitably, Lukas did something terrible to show her that she was right for Isaac all along.  What he apparently did was unbelievable and felt forced, like the author grabbed some random thing out of thin air and forced it in to fix the situation.  I just couldn't back Isaac and April's relationship at all.

The plot was okay.  Had it been backed up with better characters and less cliches, it would have been quite enjoyable!  It had the potential to be a wonderful book and I only wish I had been able to like the characters more than I did.

  1. I've heard very mixed things about this one, so I'm not sure whether I want to read it or not. I love New Adult, but I do hate when they all seem to follow the same cliches. Thanks for the honest review!
