Waiting on Wednesday (12)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine.  It's where we share the upcoming releases we're most eagerly anticipating and can't wait to get our hands on!
This week . . .

Title:  Black City
Series:  Black City #1
Author:  Elizabeth Richards
Publisher:  G.P. Putnam's Sons BYR
Pages:  384
Release Date:  November 13, 2012

A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.

In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.
Why I'm Waiting on Black City:  I was immediately drawn in by the cover.  It is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.  I love the colors and the shattered glass!  I'm interested in what it might represent in the book.  The blurb of this book has me sitting at the edge of my seat, wondering what will happen and who will make it through and how Ash and Natalie's relationship with start and grow.  I'm also rather fond of the post-apocalyptic love story part.

What are you waiting on this Wednesday?

  2. I've had this one on my to-read list for a really, really long time and I can't wait to get my hands on it. It's been a long wait but the book sounds great so it might be worth it. I hope it is! Great pick!
